THE MURAL PAINTING PROCESS
WHAT’S THE PROCESS OF GETTING CUSTOM ART & MURALS?
1. FREE CONSULTATION/DISCOVERY CONVERSATION
We start with a free consultation. During your online/phone conversation, we'll do the following
-discuss the area you'd like painted
-talk about any possible ideas you might have
-get size/measurements and photos
-get your budget
-find out the desired start dare and if there are deadlines
2. DESIGN PROCESS/SKETCH
We begin the design process with a clear description of the "feel" or "mood" of the piece. This is typically achieved through a collaborative brainstorming session, and by sharing visual ideas and images that might inspire the artwork.
After our initial design conversation, I require a non refundable sketch fee of $1,500 to begin the sketching process. The fee includes up to 3 different designs provided by me and you are able to make 3 sets of changes. Additional changes are charged at $100/draft. An entire brand new set of 3 designs will be $1,000. Please be a specific as possible with what you want to avoid extra charges with revisions.
After an in-depth discovery conversation (see above), and you've recieved and decided on your final design to be painted, I will provide you with a written work estimate. If you are interested in learning how I arrive at my price quote, see my page on mural rates.
4. SIGNED CONTRACT AGREEMENT AND RETAINER DEPOSIT
I will provide you a proposal for work which includes a contract agreement. After looking over, agreeing, and signing please send the signed contract along with a 25% deposit to book your project. This allows for ordering of supplies and confirms the scheduling dates. It will be applied toward the total cost of the mural at the end. Congratulations, you are now officially on my schedule to have your mural painted.
It's time to get to work! I typically work 7 days a week, 12+ hrs a day. Hours only change due to weather conditions. Clients usually comment on how quickly the work progresses. I like to touch base regularly to ensure that expectations are being met and everything is on the right track. I work until we are both satisfied with the results. I let you know when I am close to completion and we review the work together to see if there is anything missed or doesn't feel right. I will make the final adjustments if needed. The mural is complete.
6. FINAL PAYMENT
A final payment of the full remaining balance is due upon the last day of completion of the mural.
